IMS, Inc., a Scottsdale marketing communications firm, announced it won at the fifth annual, 2007 AMA Phoenix Spectrum Awards Banquet held recently at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale. IMS took home the award for the best “New Product or Service Campaign (Large Budget)” category. Beating out nearly 200 entries, the firm won for being the brain behind a new brand in the self-help category with No More Ramen: the 20-something’s real world survival guide and the companion website www.nomoreramenonline.com. IMS also placed as a top three finalist in the “Event Marketing” category for producing and promoting Cold Stone Creamery’s 2007 Annual Franchisee Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The No More Ramen brand was conceptualized, researched and positioned by IMS for entrepreneur Nicholas Aretakis who wanted to develop a book series to help 20-somethings make the leap from college to the real world.  The first book in the series No More Ramen:  The 20-something’s real world survival guide is already in its second printing after nine months in distribution.  IMS also provided editorial direction for the book, developed the cover, created the companion website and handled the launch PR which garnered interest in major news dailies like the Washington Post.  The radio press tour delivered over 5 million impressions.  And, the book won the 2006 U.S. Book News Best Book Award in the college category and was a finalist in the business category.  It is also a finalist in the 2007 Benjamin Franklin Awards.  Winners will be announced on May 31, 2007.

“The No More Ramen title immediately connects with the target audience and positions the book as a true must read for any twenty-something who wants to find success and happiness in the real world. We want people to eat Ramen noodles because they like to, not because they have to,” stated Kathy Heasley, IMS founder and principal. “In order for any book to be successful, it must have a unique hook.  And, with this title, the connection everyone has with living on Ramen noodles we have just that.”
